How to get my young adult dog to stop biting?

I have an Australian Cattle dog that I adopted last month. She is six months old, and is frequently nipping at us. She is also jumping on everyone. We have watched a few videos on how to train her without physical punishment (pat on the nose, etc) but she gets more excited from us ignoring her. We also have a cat that she adores, but we have tried everything for that and the cat won't cooperate. Is it too late to train our dog?
